Under-Construction Church Vandalised in Haryana, 14 Booked by Police

An under-construction church was vandalised in Haryana's Hisar district

Hisar:   An under-construction church was vandalised in Kaimri village in Haryana's Hisar district on Saturday allegedly by some locals who also placed an idol of Lord Hanuman at the site, claiming that the land was meant for residential purpose.

The village sarpanch (head) had allegedly claimed that the church was being raised on a plot meant for residential purpose. But when the construction continued, angry locals allegedly damaged the church and placed a saffron flag and a Hanuman idol at the site, claiming rights over the land.

14 people have been booked by under various section of the Indian Penal Code including for damaging a place of worship and criminal intimidation following a complaint by the church pastor, Father Subhash Chand. But no arrests have been made so far.

Police has been deployed in the village to keep the situation under control.
